Under the title Shared Secrets, the Kendall Art Center inaugurated an exhibition by Pedro Ávila Gendis on September 23, 2016. The show featured works from the series La voz de la tierra (The Voice of the Earth), Paisajes Sublimes (Sublime Landscapes), and Espacio interior (Interior Space), remaining open to the public until October 21. Ávila, a Cuban artist who carries the essence of the Island wherever he goes, subtly embeds themes of travel and relentless movement in search of a kinder environment within his graphic rhetoric. On the occasion of the exhibition's opening in September 2016, art critic Roxana M. Bermejo penned a brief review titled The Odyssey of Pedro Ávila Gendis, reproduced below.
